Simon, we’ve had our shutters fitted today and they are absolutely magnificent. They were definitely worth waiting for and fitters were really nice too. Overall, it ended up as a very pleasant experience. Based on that I will assume that delay was just one of those unfortunate set of circumstances and will recommend your services to all of our friends.
Best regards, Adis Piric

Much like interior shutters, exterior ones were designed and constructed with sunlight control, security and weather protection all in mind.
Working shutters (not just for decoration) are hinged on either side of the window opening.
Adjustable or fixed louvres allow air to flow and filter the sunlight whilst still protecting from the rain. It also allows increased privacy while retaining air flow.
Solid shutters and board and batten shutters are normally used for protection against severe weather conditions.
Non operational or functional shutters are only normally used to enhance the visual appeal of a house - decorative only.
Good quality shutters are normally produced using wood which is proven against the elements, such as hardwoods - mahogany and teak. Softwood such as pine is not as effective.
For extended life, wooden shutters should also be finished.
Plastic composite shutters offer advantages over the wooden types. They last longer as they are not as susceptible to rot, twisting as splitting.
However, composites are often different and require additional or altered fixings.

Information on interior shutters
Interior shutters are usually hinged on either side of the window opening. They swing inwards to allow light to enter the room and to allow access to the window. Louvre shutters have slats that rotate so they open or close to regulate the amount of light, view and amount of air flow.
Shutters that have these louvres are described in differing terms such as:
Plantation shutters
Louvre shutters
Traditional shutters
California shutters.
The description is a reference to the size of the louvre blade.
Other types of shutters include fixed or stationary louvres which don’t rotate, solid panels that can be moved, flat, recessed or with inserts of fabric etc.
Shutters that only cover the bottom portion of the window are often refered to as cafe shutters.
Horizontal diver rails can be added to full height shutters to seperate the lower and upper portions.
An operable louvre gives more control as the louvres on the top can be altered independently to the bottom ones.

Keywest Shutters are proud to offer a varied range of interior shutters.
Originally designed for hotter climates, and placed on the outside of a building, nowadays these shutters are redesigned and positioned inside property for added benefits.
Where curtains and blinds are not possible or not adequate, or simply don’t fit the design of the room, interior shutters can be fitted. They also offer vesatility with regard to amount of light coming through the window, ventilation - offering fresh air into a room through an open window whilst retaining a closed shutter, and privacy.
Think about a nice warm day in the summer, when the sun is shining and the temperatures are rising. Perhaps your room is overlooked and you like to have the window open for that nice breeze. Why not have interior shutters. That way, you can have the window open as wide as you like. The louvred shutters would let in that lovely breeze to cool the room, and keep out the sun’s warm rays. It would also prevent anyone seeing into your room!
So, as you can see there are many advantages to interior shutters.
Now because they are interior, we have to offer a full range of different styles and colours to suit everybodys taste to match their decoration.
We can split them into ranges for ease.
The Fleming range is our most cost effective choice with a comptemporary look. It is constructed from an LVL core with LDF outer body which is polymer coated.
The Truman shutter is hardwood. They are lightweight which means, on wider openings, you may not need a top tracking system. The Truman range is recommended for tier on tier installations.
Our Duval shutter range is made from basswood - a high quiality hardwood. It has an engineered core to prevent warping.
You can this shutter in a variety of painted or stained finishes.
Need to acheive a really natural look? Then the Hemingway is for you. It comes in natural red cedar (and we do not offer shades or paint finishes as that would do the fabulous red cedar no justice!). These are popular in loft style apartments, barn conversions, or anywhere where a really natural feel is needed.
So what about wet or harsh environments? Well, we feel that wood and water are not always a good combination. So we introduced the Thermalite range where these are made from 100% synthetic material. They will not warp and are in a painted finish. These are ideal in environments such as wet rooms, showers, conservatories or anywhere where condensation may occur. These shutters will last a very long time.
So for everywhere else, there isĀ our solid shutter range. For near total blackout, and greater security, solid shutters are very popular in both modern and traditional homes, houses, flats, apartments, hotels, just about anywhere!
So, I think you will agree, we have a shutter for any home anywhere.
